Tommie Lee White, age 87, of Columbus, MS, passed from this life on the 20th day of September, 2012, at Trinity Healthcare of Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be Monday, September 24, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Oscar Mattox officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Furnace Hill Cemetery in Vernon, AL. Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2012, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. White was born July 3, 1925, in Caledonia, MS, to the late John Thomas and Mary Francis Perkins Palmer. She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church and retired from American Bosch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Charley White, sisters, Banks Yerby and Annie Allen, and brothers, Richard and Gaynor Palmer. Mrs. White is survived by sons, Jim White and his wife Terry, and Billy White, sisters, Inor Whitaker and Millie Barham, brother, James Larry Palmer and his wife Nancy, brother-in-law, Sid Yerby, sister-in-law, Sue Palmer, former daughter-in-law, Paulette White, grandsons, Charley White and Art White, step grandchildren, Nathan Reichel, Cindy Reichel, and Michelle Lutz, and step great grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Lutz. Pallbearers will be Charley White, Art White, David Palmer, Edward Barham, and Clay Barham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS, 39703.
