Jerry Phillip Woods, age 73, of Columbus, MS, passed away March 4, 2012, at his residence. Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at 1:00 PM at Shady Grove Cemetery in Fayette, AL, near the Bluff Community with military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6, 2012, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Woods was born August 31, 1938, in Fayette, AL, to the late Oscar and Eula Fowler Woods. He was a 20 year retiree from the Army National Guard of Mississippi and veteran of Vietnam. Mr. Woods also retired from Babcock & Wilcox after 23 years and was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. He was an avid Alabama fan, sports fan, and enjoyed following all of the local high school sports teams. Mr. Woods is survived by his wife, Dorothy Glenn Kibe Woods of Columbus, MS, son, Phillip Woods and his wife Donna of Pontotoc, MS, granddaughter, Breanna Woods of Mont Pelier, MS, sister, Martha Dean Herren of Fayette, AL, five step sons and one step daughter. Pallbearers will be Jim Kibe, Richard Hicks, Dylan Hicks, Hunter Hicks, Allen Kibe, Gary Ash, and Kenneth Byrd. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Beard, Kenny Hall, Shorty Glenn, Roger Kibe, Terry Kibe, and John Beard.
