Earnest Leon House, 79 ,of Columbus, Lowndes County,MS died Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at his residence in the New Hope community of Lowndes County. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home, where visitation was held Thursday, January 22, 2009 from 6:00-8:00PM. Services were Friday morning, January 23, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Memorial with Rev. Jack Taylor, officiating. Burial followed at Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Lowndes County, Ms. Mr. House was born Monday, January 20, 1930, in Columbus, MS to the late James and Ethel Perrigan House. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1997 he retired after 25 years of employment with the Lowndes County Board of Supervisors, District 3. He was a member of VFW Post 4272, and Bread of Life Fellowship Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Bonnie Nell Hallman House and a brother Louis House. He is survived by his daughters Shelia House Loevenguth (Roger) of Columbus, Miss. and Jane House of Birmingham, Ala. a brother-Buddy House(Dora) of Amory, Miss. and two sisters-Lucille Woolbright and Gladys House, both of Columbus, Miss. He is also survived by four grandchildren Tammy Sanderson, Donna Reed, John David Reed and Christie Meadows and six great grandchildren Jordan, Anthony, Art, Landon, Sean, and Caleb. Pallbearers were Mike Smith, Chris Smith, Jay Campbell, John David Reed, T.J. Meadows and Wayne Woolbright. Honorary pallbearers were M.D. Sudduth and Dr. Doyle Sumrall.
