DOT FRIDAY Dorothy "Dot" Humphries Friday, age 87, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, November 4th at Vineyard Nursing Center. Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr.Jonathan Speegle officiating. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Friday was born on March 20, 1925 in West Point, MS to the late Onais M. and Kate Humphries. A life-long resident of Columbus, she graduated from S. D. Lee High School in 1944. Dot married Marion V. Friday and they owned and operated Friday's Grocery for many years. She was a bookkeeper-accountant at Columbus Public Schools and Columbus Air Force Base. She loved bookkeeping and continued to keep books for several businesses until she was 73 years old. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Dot enjoyed her family, reading, genealogy, traveling, going to the beach, watching the Atlanta Braves, and cooking. She was a sweet and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Friday was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter - Dorothy Kate Hardin, and her sister - Kathryn Mitchell. Survivors include daughters, Teresa Friday Hufford and Rosalea Friday McIntosh; son-in-laws, David M. McIntosh and Ricky A. Hardin, all of Columbus; her sister, Eva Lawrence of Sante Fe, NM; grandchildren, Alisha Hufford Piro (Anthony), Joshua B. Hufford, both of Denver, CO, Audrey Kate McIntosh of New Orleans, LA; and great-grandchildren, Susanna and Nicholas Piro, also of Denver, CO along with many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Wayne Blankenship, Stan Caldwell, Ricky A. Hardin, Jeffery Mitchell, William "Bill" R. Taylor, II, and David Van Every. Honorary pallbearers are John East, Joshua Hufford, Christopher Johnson, L.C. McGee, David McIntosh, and Anthony Piro. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703. The family wishes to thank all of their Mother's caregivers over the past few years for their attentive, supportive assistance.
