MARY NELL JOHNSON Mary Nell Jones Johnson, aged 84 passed away peacefully on February 15, 2013 at Vineyard Court Nursing Home, with her daughter Pam Johnson Whitney and several staff members at her side. Services will be held Saturday February 23, at 2:00 p.m. at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Jearl Hunley officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. A private family burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was the mother of Pam and Pams husband, Charles Whitney. Her grandchildren included Chris Whitney and his wife Jamie Boyd Whitney, and Laura Kate Whitney and her husband Jason Harlos. Great-grandchildren are Aidan Whitney, Grey Halos and Dean Harlos. She is also survived by her sister, Mrs. Betty Lou Jones Unger, and several nieces and nephew, and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father E.S. Jones and Beulah Mae Goodson Jones, sisters Ruby Jones Latham, and brothers, William Frank Jones, Henry Ford Jones, and Robert S. Jones. She was a lifelong member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Peniel Sunday School Class, and an active member of the LadiesAid. She admired and repected the leadership of the pastors, elders of the church, and considered the church membership as her closest friends. Mrs. Johnson worked for several years at Seminole Manufacturing Company, and was a caregiver to her mother during an extended illness. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed watching talk shows and her stories. She kept in touch daily by telephone with her friends and relatives. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren delighted her with their visits, and she loved the company of her family pets, Andy and Rudy. The Pallbearers will be: Sam Wade, Richard Carley, Neal Van Valkenburg, Kenny Crenshaw, and Ed Atkins The Honorary Pallbearers will be: Members of the Peniel Sunday School Class, Ladies the Ladies Aid.
