Pauline Alexander Wallace, age 98, died November 13, 2011, at her residence at Trinity Healthcare in Columbus, Mississippi. Mrs. Wallace (Polly) was born on February 2, 1913, in Vass, NC to the late William Franklin Alexander and Lula Isabell Richardson. Survivors include: her daughters, Judith Wallace Carter of Columbus, MS; Bobbye Lou Stout of Peoria, AZ; her son, William Rex Wilson of Cameron, NC; her brothers Lewey G. Alexander of Greensboro, NC; Robert L. Alexander of Ocean Isle, NC; Oswald Max Alexander, of Tyler, TX; and sister, Patsy Lou Rodgers of Locklin, CA. Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by daughters, Norma Jean Medlin and Patricia Ann Pendergraff of Durham, NC; brothers, Jack H. Alexander of Durham, NC, John F. Alexander of Hamburg, NY, Quentin Alexander of Vass, NC, and sister, Willie Pearl Carr of Charlotte, NC. Grandchildren include: Lisa Alexandra Carter of Seattle, WA, Judy Martin, Danny Wilson, David Wilson, Susie Marsh, and Ruby Tramway of Cameron, NC, Edna Douglas of Carthage, NC, Linda Carol Currie of Chapel Hill, NC and David Medlin of Chesapeake, VA. Having resided in Columbus, MS for over 65 years, Polly was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church, serving as Pianist, Sunday School Teacher and in many other capacities during her life. She was employed by Campbell Sixty-Six Express and retired at the age of 65. Polly was an active member of the Airline Homemakers Club, the Business and Professional Womens Club and other volunteer organizations. A visitation and memorial service will be held Thursday, November17, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Healthcare, 230 Airline Road, Columbus, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or a charity of choice.
