Vivian James "Jimmy" Wood, age 86, of Columbus, MS, passed away October 11, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Ferguson officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Bethel Cemetery in Vernon, AL. Visitation is also Tuesday, October 12, 2010, one hour prior to the service at Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Wood was born August 3, 1924, in Caledonia, MS, to the late Jimmy and Lucy Andrews Wood. He served for several years in the United States Army and worked for Fletcher Oil Company for around 40 years, many of those years as manager. Mr. Wood was a member of the Church of Christ of Columbus. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Kathryn McGee Wood of Columbus, MS, sons, Tony Wood of Searcy, AR, and Don Wood of Covington, TN, and sister Gracie Lee Aldridge of Olive Branch, MS. Pallbearers will be Gene Yates, Terry Brumley, Dale McGee, and Shawn Dickey. Memorials may be made to Sunnybrook Children's Home, P.O. Box 4871, Jackson, MS, 39296.
