Bradford Durant Smith Age 92 died June 18, 2007 at The Arrington in Columbus, MS Services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Bobby Cobb Officiating burial will follow at Smith family Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM Mr. Smith was born on November 20, 1914 in Lowndes County MS to the late Jesse Carter and Bessie Harper Smith. He was a 1933 graduate of Caledonia High School. He was a member of Border Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was a retired US Naval Chief Boatswain Mate. He was a decorated veteran of the battles of Coral Sea, Leyte Gulf, and the island campaigns of the South Pacific in World War II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Frances Sansing Smith. survivors include: Son-Michael Thomas Smith (Nancy) of Caledonia, Miss. Son-Jeffrey Carter Smith (Laura) of Columbus, Miss. Daughter-Kerry Smith Henderson (Sam) of Columbus, Miss. Daughter-Priscilla Smith Ammerman (Joseph) of Jackson, Miss. Daughter-Robin Smith Wise (Richard) of Jackson, Miss. 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren
