Ila Mae Sewell, age 90, passed away January 15, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. Services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Sammy Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on January 17 at Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Sewell was born on November 22, 1916 in Adger, AL to the late John Henry Gilbert and Viola Hartley Gilbert. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for forty years and a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Sewell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Boyd Sewell; her son, Jimmy Sewell; her granddaughter, Haley Sewell; and brothers, Edsel Gilbert, Lee Roy Gilbert, Gene Gilbert, and John GIlbert. She is survived by her son, Tim Sewell (Nancy) of Columbus, MS; sister, Drucilla Salter of Bessemer, AL; grandchildren, Melissa Cecchi of Orlando, FL; Teresa Sewell of Lausanne, Switzerland; and Jodi Eberhard of Philadelphia.
