GEARLD JOY Gearld William Gray Joy age 94 died Monday, December 19, 2011 at Home Place of Columbus. Services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Robert Dore officiating, burial with U.S. Navy honors will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Mr. Joy was born on Wednesday, October 10, 1917 in Grape Grove, MO to the late John Riley and Mary B. Forbes Joy. After his high school graduation in 1936 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. In 1943 he married his beloved wife, Leona Marie Junot. His military service lasted for 20 years and he was honorably discharged in August of 1955, with the rank of PNC. During his career he received 12 metals and awards. After serving his country he went to work as a supervisor at B.F. Goodrich Corporation in Port Neches TX and retired again in 1980. In 1977 he and Leona moved to the resort community of Wildwood TX where they lived until 2000 when they moved to Columbus.
