Mrs. Jean MasengaleTowery , age 89 , of Columbus died Monday, July 20, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be held Friday, July 24, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery with Chaplin Steve Brown officiating. She will be buried next to her husband , the late Coley Wade Towery, who died June 28, 1986. Mrs. Towery was born Monday, September 15, 1919 in Smithville, MS to the late Arthur and Hattie Mae Towery Masengale. She and her husband moved to Columbus after he returned from duty in World War II. She was a long-time member of East End Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by brothers Truman, Rhett and Lex Masengale and sisters Lella Masengale Cox and Estle Masengale Jackson. She is survived by her son, Dr. Ronald Wade Towery and his wife Pam of Jonesboro, AR and her daughter Pamela Towery Rhea and her husband Clyde of Columbus, grandchildren Kimberly Towery Childers(Curtis), Jonesboro, AR; Katie Rhea Fenstermacher (Josh) , Caledonia , Andy Rhea and Jenna Rhea, both of Columbus and 2 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 318 College St., Columbus, Ms 39701.
