Robert Flint was born in 1917 in Charleston, West Virginia, and moved to Arizona with his family in 1919. He graduated Phoenix Union High School, and joined the Army in 1937. In 1947, he met and married First Lieutenant Sibyl Sansing of Caledonia, Mississippi. The couple had three children, two of whom survived to adulthood. Robert retired from the Army in 1964 and moved to Caledonia, where he started a successful cattle farming operation, which he continued until this year. He is survived by his two daughters, Carol Owen, of Wales in the United Kingdom and Irene Hunley of Caledonia, his son, Randolph Flint, of Champaign, Illinois, as well as their spouses Ben, Van and Thena, thirteen grandchildren, and several great-grandhildren. Roberts second son, Gary, died in 1967, and his wife died in 1994. He is also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, and has a number of nieces and nephews in Mississippi, Texas, Arizona, and California. His Army career included service in World War II and the Korean War, as he rose from the rank of private to lieutenant colonel. A thirty-second degree Mason, he helped found the Caledonia Masonic Lodge, and was also a member of the Caledonia Lions Club, as well as the Missisippi Cattlemens Association and the Golden Triangle Regional Planning Board. He was an unstinting friend to anyone in need, and helped as many people as he could with time, money or advice. He will be missed. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, November 10, 2006 at Memorial Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be at Memorial Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 11, 2006 , with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Interment will be at Rowan Cemetery in Caledonia, Miss.
