GERALD DUCKWORTH Gerald Cecil Duckworth age 84 died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Trinity Independent Living in Columbus. Services will be held Friday, August 02, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earl McAnnly officiating, burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Lamar County, AL. Visitation will be held Thursday August 1, 2013 from 6 until 8 at the funeral home. Mr. Duckworth was born on Thursday, September 27, 1928 in Kennedy, AL to the late Ermon Cecil and Lona Roberta Holliman Duckworth. He was of the Baptist faith, and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was a retired Police Officer with the Columbus Police Department, and an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son James Cecil Duckworth, his sister Jean Campbell, and his brother-in-law James A. Stacey. Survivors include: One Daughter: Brenda Thrasher (Billy), Columbus, MS One Son: Gearld Cecil "Junior" Duckworth, Jr. (Debbie), Diberville, MS Two Sisters: Betty Stacey, Millport, AL Karen Nuesch (John), West Point, MS Two Brothers: Wyman Duckworth (Mary Ann), Tuscaloosa, AL Frank Duckworth (Beverly), West Point, MS 8 Grandchildren, and 11 Great Grandchildren The Pallbearers will be: Charlie Watkins, Pete Bowen, Pat Robinson, Ross Richardson, Gary Moore, and Grady Jaynes The Honorary Pallbearers will be: Gary Shepherd, Charles Atkins, Edward Earl Williams, Bobby Bluitt, and past and present members of the Columbus Police Department In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: American Diabetes Association 16 Northtown Dr. Jackson MS 39211
