William B. "Jack" Drees Jr., age 84, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Columbia, SC. Services will be held Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Whitney officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home Friday, May 21, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Mr. Drees was born on Tuesday, April 13, 1926 in Columbus, MS to the late William B. and Mae Colburn Drees. He was baptized as a boy and was active in East End Baptist Church. In his later years he helped start Grace Baptist Church. He was a veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army. He was a salesman and worked for Sunflower Food Stores, Interstate Life Insurance and Frito- Lay. He was also self-employed, building and owning his own food store. A jack of all trades, he was a craftsman in woodwork, mechanics and artwork. He fell in love with Dorothy Cannon and was married to her for nearly 50 years until her death in June, 1997. He later married Millie Honnoll and was also widowed by her in January , 2008. He is survived by his son Dr. Bill Drees, Lugoff, SC and his daughter Barbara Gunter, Hazelhurst, Ms , sisters Martha Propst, Crawford, MS, and Linda Miller, Florence, AL and brothers Morris Drees, Gulf Breeze, FL, Sidney Godfrey, Huntsville, AL and Bobby Godfrey, Calera, AL. He is also survived by four grandchildren, two great grandchildren as well as other family and friends The Pallbearers will be Adam Gunter, Kenny Hinely, Bobby Godfrey, Sidney Godfrey, Chris Godfrey and Hardy Hester.
