Donald R. Forrester, age 76, died Thursday, May 15, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Healthcare-Golden Triangle in Columbus .Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Annunciation Catholic Church, with Father Robert Dore, celebrant. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM in the church atrium. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The son of the late Lewis G. and Ella Jane Lambert Forrester, Mr. Forrester was born May 29, 1936 in Columbus. He attended Caledonia High School, and served in the US Navy for four years. While on active duty, he married Hazel Ruby Taylor June 20, 1959 in San Diego, CA, was discharged from the Navy in January 1960 and returned to Columbus with his bride the same month. He retired as Warehouse Manager from Cash & Carry Building Supply after many years He was a faithful member of Annunciation Catholic Church. He loved to go fishing and treasured time spent with his grandson Derrick, his fishing partner. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Ed Forrester, Dick Forrester, and James Forrester, sisters Hazel Weathers, Helen Madison and Goldie Morris and his son Darrell Forrester. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Ruby Forrester, his son and daughter-in-law David and Susan Forrester, his daughter-in-law Kathy Forrester, all of Columbus and daughters and sons-in-law Donna Forrester of Columbus, Darlene F. and Scott Comish of Starkville and Deedee and Frank Maslowski of Issaquah, WA and his brother and sister-in-law Alton and Mary Forrester of Columbus. He is also survived by his grandchildren Derrick (Lori) Forrester, Abby (Brian) Park, Presley Forrester, Dalton Forrester, Carson Forrester, Matthew Comish, Alex Maslowski and Olivia Maslowski. Pallbearers will be Derrick Forrester, Dalton Forrester, Gary Weathers, William Forrester, Dennis Hilbert, and Ricky Haynes. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Reeves, Tony Torrez, Kenneth Woolbright, Jay Harris, Bobby Cade, members of the W. H. Jolly Council 7974, Knights of Columbus and former and current employees of Cash and Carry.
