Jean Mildred Stewart Peaks, age 91, died November 23, 200 at Trinity Personal Care in Columbus,MS. Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home Tuesday evening , November 25, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Don Harding and Rev. Ron McDougal officiating. Burial will follow in Center Hill Cemetery, Hamilton,Ms. Mrs. Peaks was born January 24, 1917 in Grandin, MO to the late James Merritt and Martha Bucknell Stewart. She was one of the founders of Kolola Springs Baptist Church , where she served as church secretary for over 40 years. She was employed at Seminole Manufacturing , and for many years she was the store manager for Grant's Nursery and Store. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Grover A. Peaks, her son James Allen Peaks, her daughter Marion E. " Sis" Smith , and a great granddaughter Heather Pennington. She is survived by her son William E. Peaks (Doris) of Long Beach, Miss., eight grandchildren Sharon Fleming(Marc), Tony Smith(Betsy), and Brenda Pennington (Ronnie) all of Caledonia, Miss., Karen Cushing (Jim) of Bartlett, Tenn., Christopher Peaks(Candy) of Olive Branch, Miss., Michael Peaks (Patty) of Jacksonville, Fla., Kelly Horner and Jamie Bailey, both of Arlington, Va. She is also survived by 17 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great -great grandchildren. The Pallbearers will be Tony Smith, Ronnie Pennington, Marc Fleming, Mike Grant, Andy Grant and Mike Scarborough. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Glenn Scarborough, Joe King Victor Stephens, Glenn Freeman and the members of Kolola Springs Baptist Church.
