HEWITT FERGUSON

Hewitt Brooks Ferguson age 90, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus. Services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul McDonald officiating, burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Ferguson was born on May 09, 1923 in Lowndes County, MS to the late John Kieffer and Frances Willard Ferguson. He was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, and a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran. He as a 1942 graduate of S.D. Lee High School and attended Mississippi State University, he was employed by Free Hart Bakery for 9 years and Mitchell Engineering/Ceco Building Systems for 31 years.

Mr. Ferguson shared a love for gardening and raising cattle. He was active in the Lowndes County Cattlemens Association serving as a past president. He was also a member of the National Cattlemens Association.

Mr. Ferguson enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, and was known for his wonderful candies. He had a love for the outdoors, including hunting and fishing, supporting Mississippi State Athletics, and spending time with his family and friends.
