Mrs. Flora Smith Lee, age 91, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at East Glen Nursing and Rehab in Birmingham, Al., where she has lived for the last five years. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services, with Rev. Jearl Hunley officiating, will be Monday afternoon at Egger Cemetery in Caledonia, MS.
The daughter of the late James L and Willie Lou Halbert Smith, Mrs. Lee was born January 5, 1923 in Columbus. She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church until she moved to Birmingham ten years ago to be near her sons. She was employed with Shainbergs as a sales clerk for 15 years. She also worked with her husband, the late James M. Lee, for a number of years at their service station and caf on the site where Bates Tire now sits.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Donald Macon and Lynda Lee of Weaver, AL and Billy Gene and Sandra Lee of Trussville, AL, five grandchildren Tonya White ( Scott), Jarrett Lee(Jana), Jeffrey Lee ( Mandy), Nick Lee, Bethany Lewis ( Alan) and seven great grandchildren Mikayla Cardwell, Caleb Lee, Morgan Lee, Mason Lee, Cailin Lee, Noah Causey, and Ryker Lewis.
