HORTENSE WAKEFIELD Hortense Thompson Wakefield, age 90, of Caledonia, MS, passed away April 3, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be Friday, April 6, 2012, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Westmoreland officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Egger Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 5, 2012, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Wakefield was born January 27, 1922, in Pontotoc, MS, to the late Marshall and Edna Coggans Thompson. She retired as an administrative assistant from the Pontotoc, MS, School System after her marriage to the late Clarence J. Wakefield in order to move to Caledonia and become a homemaker. Mrs. Wakefield was a member of Border Springs Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for many years and was a Primetimer. She enjoyed camping, sewing, and knitting, and in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Caldwell, second husband, Clarence J. Wakefield, daughter, Gail W. Yow, and brother, Lankston Thompson. Survivors include her daughters, Sue W. Parker and her husband Charles of Caledonia, MS, and Wanda W. Kain and her husband Bob of Steens, MS, sister, Marjorie T. Steward of Pontotoc, MS, grandchildren, Robin Brown, Jason Yow, Andrew Brown, Jeremy Yow, Jonathan Brown, Gretchen Jones, and Charlotte Douglas, and 15 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jason Yow, Jeremy Yow, Brian Jones, Bruce Erwin, Tommy Wiggins, and Harold Wayne Partain. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Brown, Jonathan Brown, Kyle Steward, Stacy Steward, Robin Steward, and Pete Reeder. Memorials may be made to Border Springs Baptist Church, c/o Bobby Fleming, P.O.
