Eleanor Easley Gentry, 94, passed away October 15, 2006 at hope Mills Retirement Home in Hope Mills North Carolina. Services will be held at Crawford United Methodist Church on Thursday October 19, 2006 at 11:00 am with Dr. Walt Porter officiating. Burial will follow ar Oak Lamb Cemetery in the Crawford Community. Visitation will be at Crawford United Methodist Church one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Gentry was born on July 13, 1912 in Lowndes County to the late William Joseph and Ruth Naomi Moore Easley. She lived most of her life in Lowndes County before moving to North Carolina 5 years ago. She was retired from J.C. Penny Company and was a member and longtime Sunday School teacher at Crawford United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Edwin Gentry, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Lewis Edwin Gentry, Jr. (Bonnie Jean) of Scottsboro, Al and William Earl Gentry (Gloria Jean) of Fayettville, NC; sisters, Lemae Thomas of West Point, Ms and Dorothy E. Ruffin of Columbus, MS. Pallbearers will be Thomas W. Fulton, Steve W. Gentry, John G. Gentry, William S. Gentry, Buddy Easley and James Ruffin. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Gentry and Charles M. Gentry.
