Carol Loretta Cole Thompson Ford, 71, of Columbus, MS died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at her home in Columbus, MS. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Billy Joe Nickoles officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Columbus, MS. Mrs. Ford was born on Thursday, December 30, 1937, in Columbus, MS to the late Woodrow Wilson Cole and Zora Nickoles Cole. A longtime member of Woodland Baptist Church, she retired in 1999 after 30 years of employment as an Inspector with United Technologies She is survived by her son Mike Thompson (Monna) of Thomasville, Ga., daughter Cheryl Sturgis sister Patricia Cole and mother Zora Nickoles Cole, all of Columbus. She is also survived by aunts Brazy Potaracke and Ernestine Butler and uncle Johnny Ray Nickoles, all of Columbus, grandson Jon " Kevin" Sturgis, Jr. and granddaughters Jennifer Brackin, Jamie Martin, Jana "Nicki" Sturgis and Christy Thompson and four great grandchildren.
