Porter Luke Speed Millport Alabama - Porter Luke Speed 85 died November 22, 2005 at his residence in Millport Alabama. Mr. Speed was born on March 28, 1920 in Pickens County Alabama to the late John Luke and Nolie Ann Porter Speed. He was a member of Piney Grove Methodist Church, a retired self-employed contractor and farmer and former owner/operator of Porter Speed Opry. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Charlene Cline Speed, one son Larry Speed, sisters Ester Mae Brownlee, Elthia Louise Cole, Brothers Andrew Jason Speed, and Robert Lee Speed Sr.. Funeral services will be Friday November 25, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Black officiating. Visitation will be Thursday 6 until 9 at Memorial Funeral Home. Survivors include Daughter: Charlotte Holmes of Columbus MS. Sons: Harold Speed (Linda) of Steens MS, Gary Don Speed (Alexie) of Steens MS. 7 Grandchildren: 11 Great Grandchildren. Sisters: Gladys Ida Leighton of Columbus MS, Gracie Ann Speed of Columbus MS. Brothers: Bryan Wilson Speed of Earle Arkansas, Jack Ellis Speed of Amory MS.
