Mr. Hubert Wayne Cox, age 81, of Columbus, Miss., died Friday, November 10, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle. Arrangements are being handled by Memorial Funeral Home, where the family will received friends from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM Sunday, November 12, 2006. Funeral service were at Memorial Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Monday, November 13, 2006 , with Rev. Mickey Dalrymple and Rev. Sammy Crawford officiating. Interment was at Memorial Gardens. Mr. Cox was born on July 8, 1925 in Mississippi to the late Hubert Davis and Ester Williamson Davis. He moved to Columbus in 1958 and started his business, Cox Service Center, shortley thereafter. He was retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergant. He served in WWII and the Korean war. He was also acitve in the Army with the 3rd Infantry .He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife Delores Cox of Columbus; One Daughter, Diane Atala (Onala) of Plainsboro, NJ; sons Mike Cox (Gaye) of Shelbyville, Kentucky, and Greg Cox of Columbus; grandchildren Matt Cox (Megan), Ben Cox (Sara), Jesse Cox (Vivian), Josh Cox, Jonathan Cox, Levi Cox, Brandy Yarbrough, Becky Cox, Jessica Cox, and Jennifer Atala; and great grandchildren, Madelyn Cox, Braedan Cox, and Amiee Cox. Pallbearers will be David Jackson Jr. and his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be David Jackson, Sr., Bobby J. Ethridge, Bob Pope, A.O. Rogers, and all friends and patrons of Cox Service Center.
