Bette Ann Westberry

November 6, 1933 — September 22, 2010

BETTE ANN WESTBERRY passed away on Wednesday September 22, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. A devoted wife and mother, Ann was a native of Columbus, Mississippi and a York County resident for over 40 years. Born on November 6, 1933 to Henry Butler Tucker and Ruby Thompson in Mathiston, Mississippi, Ann attended Stephen D. Lee High School and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women with a Masters degree in home economics. She was a devoted teacher at Tabb Intermediate School for over 20 years. Ann is survived by her 3 children, Kathryn Ann Westberry of Huntington Beach, CA, Richard Shelton Westberry and his wife Jan of New Smyrna Beach, FL; and William Butler Westberry and his wife Dawn of South Bend, IN; a sister, Peggy Sprott of Fairborn, OH and a brother, Sonny Tucker and his wife Loretta of Germantown, TN; 8 grandchildren; David Jurgensen, Krista Jurgensen, Robert Jurgensen, Wendy Westberry, William Westberry, Kaitlin Westberry, William Myer Westberry and Jake Joseph Westberry and great grandson James Orlando. Ann was a gifted seamstress and artist. She lovingly created beautiful blankets, quilts and baby clothing for friends and family. One of her greatest loves was her Lord and Savior. Her devotion to her faith and her personal testimony through song inspired everyone who knew her. She was a member of Seaford Baptist church for over 40 years where she faithfully sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Seaford Baptist Church by Rev. Dennis Hollandsworth. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at Amory Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 11:00 am in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Seaford Baptist Church, 1311 Seaford Rd., Seaford, VA, 23696.
