Lucille Measells Edwards, passed away April 12, 2007. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2007, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Crawford United Methodist Church. Services will be held Monday, April 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Crawford United Methodist Church. Mrs. Edwards was born September 22, 1910 to the late Claude and Minnie Measells of Morton, MS in Scott County. She was a graduate of Mississippi State College, Starkville, MS with a BS degree. She attended State Teacher College two years to receive a certificate to teach in the Mississippi Elementary Schools. Later she earned her BS and Masters degree in Elementary Education. She was a long time member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She touched the lives of many students having taught for 40 years in schools from south to north Mississippi, retiring from Stokes Beard Elementary School as principal in 1975. She was an active member and worker in Baptist and Methodist churches. She was married to the late William D. Edwards in 1934. He being a vocational agriculture teacher led them from south to north Mississippi, influencing young and old in their teaching. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, W.D. Edwards and son, Claudie, brothers, Dennis Measells and Russell Measells; and sister, Cleo Walker. She is survived by her son, W.D. (Billy)Edwards Jr. (Alice) and grandson, John Douglas Edwards. Pallbearers will be Robert Shields, Doug Shepherd, Larry Caldwell, Scot Halliburton, Keith Hancock, Myron Unrah, and Jim Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne and Lois Dean Eaves, Son and Shirley Brown, Carl and Joyce Rushing, Mr. and Mrs. Bit Thompson, Jewel H. Holcomb, Charles and Brenda Gentry, Doug and Almareta Clark, Bill Halliburton, Bible Study groups, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Williams. Memorials may be made to Crawford United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 694, Crawford, MS 39743 or to a charity of the donors choice.
