Lena Mae Canoy Nicholson, age 78, died Sunday, August 02, 2009 at Aurora Australis Lodge in Columbus, MS. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 04, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Ed Knox officiating, Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens in Columbus, MS. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home Tuesday, August 04, 2009 from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM. The daughter of the late Jess anfd Barbara Yates Canoy, Mrs. Nicholson was born October 18, 1930, in Pinola, Simpson County, Ms. She and her late husband, J. Wallace Nicholson, who died Dec. 26, 1994, owned and operated Nicholson's Mobile Home Repairs for over 30 years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister Mary Taylor and her brother Jess Monroe Canoy. Mrs. Nicholson is survived by two sons Bill Slade and his wife Carolyn of Florence, MS and Jay Edward Nicholson of Columbus; two daughters Pat Means of Ganado, TX and Mary Ann Tharpe and her husband Bobby of Gainesville, TX, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
