Susan Jane Valsvik Flye, age 73, died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at her home in Columbus. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation was held Saturday morning, October 22, 2011 beginning at 9:30 AM in the Atrium of Annunciation Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at 11:00 AM in Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Robert Dore, Celebrant. Interment followed at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The daughter of the late Albert and Laura Burgraff Valsvik, Mrs. Flye was born April 9, 1938 in Colquet, MN. She and her husband, Charles Royce Flye, were married June 4, 1955 in Kitsap County, WA, and they moved to Columbus from Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1972. The widow of a 20-year Navy veteran, Mrs. Flye was a communicant of Annunciation Catholic Church and retired in 2009 as a Teachers Aid at Annunciation Catholic School. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flye was predeceased by her son, Rodney Jay Flye, who died November 14, 1960 and her husband Charles Royce Flye, who died June 27, 1992. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Royce Alan and Debra Lee McMath Flye, Cantonment, FL; Ronald Dean Flye, Columbus, MS; and Randal Jay and Angela Gail Clardy Flye, Spanish Fort, AL and her daughter and son-in-law Cynthia Renea Flye Cash and James Michael Cash, Cantonment, FL; her sister Patricia Valsvik Estabrook, Bremerton, WA and her brothers-in-law and their wives Wayne and Christine Oswalt Flye and Jack and Barbara Fly, all of Columbus, MS.
