Marisa Christiane "Risa" Loftis Bruner, age 56 , of Starkville died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at her mothers home in Columbus. Graveside services, with Dr. Rick Olson officiating, will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 2:00 at Friendship Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. The daughter of the late Willie Tee Loftis, Jr. and Mildred Glover Loftis, Risa was born March 9, 1955 in Columbus. She was a 1973graduate of Robert S. Caldwell High School in Columbus. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978, a Masters degree in Education in 1979, and Doctor of Philosophy in 1987, all from Mississippi State University. She was employed with the Starkville School District prior to being employed by Community Counseling Services in 2002. She retired due to her health from Community Counseling as the director of Cady Hill Drug and Alcohol Rehab in Columbus in March, 2011. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Starkville. She was predeceased by her father Willie Tee Loftis, Jr., who died August 30, 2011. She is survived by her husband Sam F. Williams, Jr. and her daughter Marisa Loftis Bruner, both of Starkville, and her mother Mildred Glover Loftis and brother Eric Loftis, both of Columbus.
