Marion Phagan, Rev. Ben Yarber, and Rev. Marvin Murphy Officiating Burial followed at Smith Cemetery. Visitation was held at Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, June 18, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Mr. Southerland was born in Union County, Ms on June 8, 1911 to Thomas Wade and Nancy Osceola Southerland. A resident of Columbus since 1926, he was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mr. Southerland was a dairy farmer and brought some of his first livestock to Columbus on the train, and then took them to his dairy farm in the Prairie. He also owned a grocery store and a service station during his business career. . He worked at Columbus Air Force Base during the Korean Conflict as a water plant operator. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mamie Gray Southerland, brothers Frank and Ellis Southerland and a sister Mary Emma Southerland Laughead .Memorial may be sent in Mr. B.D.'s memory to Trinity Place HealthCare Center, 230 Airline Rd., Columbus, Ms 39702 or Smith Cemetery Association c/o Jeff Smith, P.O.
