Mary Etheridge

Mary Kelley Etheridge, 70, died April 13, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus. Services will be today at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbus the with Rev. Michael Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens in Columbus. Visitation was held Saturday evening at Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Etheridge was born February 5, 1937, in Mathiston to the late Joseph and Mae Tellis Kelley. She was a lifelong resident of Starkville. With her late husband, she was a former owner of the Derby Restaurant in Starkville. She was also employed as a waitress at several Columbus restaurants. An avid fisherman, she loved her children and grandchildren and was considered the favorite aunt by her nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Etheridge; her grandson, Thomas Joe Beck; one sister; and five brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Kathey Smith (Jack) of Columbus; son, Terry Beck (Gayle) of Eupora; sisters, Willie Mae Moore and Earline Brown, both of Starkville; brother, Rev. Lavelle Kelley of Macon, Ga.; grandsons, Jackie Smith (Toni) of Columbus and Craig Beck (Stephanie) of Longview, Texas; granddaughters, Kim Clements (Mike) of Bowling Green, Ky., and Kelley Strider (Jesse) of Columbus; two great-granddaughters, Taylor Smith and Christy Jo Beck; and three great-grandsons, Tyler Smith, Drake Clements, and Logan Clements. Pallbearers will be Donald Wayne Kelley, Tony Shelton Sr., Ross Potter, Tim Potter, Joe Ault, and Billy Gray. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association of Mid-Mississippi, 1900 Dunburton St., Suite 1, Jackson, MS 39216.
