Columbus, MS - Mr. Simpson was born on December 24, 1936 in Tuscaloosa, Al to the late John E. and Luvelle Prescott Simpson. He was a retired carpenter for Jim Walter Homes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Lou Simpson, one son, Stevie Simpson, and one brother, Ed Simpson. Funeral services will be Saturday June 10, 2006 at 2:00p.m. from Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Westmoreland officiating. Visitation will be Friday June 9, 2006 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. Survivors include his Daughters: Virginia Ann Willing (Bob) of Delaware, Sandra Mishler (David) of Columbus, Ms, and Dianne Gann of Columbus, Ms; Sons: Virgil Simpson (Wanda) of Boonville, Ms, Jimmy Ray Hollingsworth (Pam) of Louisiana, Mark Simpson (Bonnie) of Charlotte, NC, and Jackie Wayne simpson (Lezlie) of Columbus, Ms; 20 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Jean Mims of Columbus, Ms; and Brothers: John Simpson of Columbus, Ms, James Honnell of West Point, Ms, and Phillip Simpson of Pensacola, Fl. Pallbearers will be Joe Wayne Langford, Jerry Langford, Mike Ganthier, Curt Strickland, Michael Simpson, and Brad Boren. Honorary Pallbearers will be W.J. Langford, Welsey Ponds, C.F. Harris Jr., and Doctors and Nurses at Baptist Memorial Hospital GT.
