Edmund Joseph Lorbiecki

Edmund Joseph Lorbiecki, 88, of Columbus died Tuesday, October 12 , 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital " Golden Triangle. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 15, 2010 in the Chapel of St. Pauls Episcopal Church at 3:00 PM, with the Very Reverend James Carlyle officiating. The son of the late Edmund John and Clara Jablonski Lorbiecki, Mr. Lorbiecki was born June 28, 1922 in Milwaukee, WI. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, retiring, after 21 years, 9 months and 20 days, with the rank of MSGT (E-8) (P) on December 31, 1962. While on active duty, he worked in the Finance and Accounting Sections, as the NCOIC. He was a survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He then began a 20 year Civil Service career working for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon as a Supervisor in Information Systems Management. He had been a resident of Columbus since 1999, moving here from Macon, GA. He was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Rosemary Babe and Louise Roeder and his wife Martha G. Williams Lorbiecki, who died January 4, 2008. He is survived by his daughters Janet Mack (Robert) of Stuart, FL, Jeane Paye (Bass) of Falls Church, VA, Kathi Smith (Danny) of Steens, MS and his son Kenny Williams (Jeannine) of Birmingham, AL. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association of Mid-Mississippi, 1900 Dunbarton St., Suite 1, Jackson, MS 39216.
