Dorothy Sanford Sanders, age 83, formerly of Columbus, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, VA. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery with Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship. The daughter of the late William Jesse and Alma Ida Harris Sanford, Mrs. Sanders was born November 12, 1928 in Hamilton, MS. She was a former member of Columbus Church of Christ and was a member of Southwest Church of Christ in Chesterfield, VA. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Edward Bud Sanders, who died January 19, 1990, her daughter Debra Anne Sanders Riggan and her brother William J. Sanford, Jr. She is survived by her daughters Sandra Darlene Sanders Pittman (Donald Lynn) of Tupelo and Emily Sanders Burgess (Dennis Dean)of Richmond, VA, two grandsons Donald Lynn Pittman, Jr.(Melissa) and Joshua Adam Pittman ( Marci) and three great grandchildren Samuel, Emmy and Madeline Pittman, all of Chattanooga, TN.
