Loyd Lowayne Wartes, age 76, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital -Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Robert Dore officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery , Columbus, MS. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home Monday, January 18, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Mr. Wartes was born on Thursday, May 04, 1933 in Petersburg, TX to the late Carl and Fae Gregory Wartes. Prior to moving to Columbus in 1972, he operated an agricultural spraying business in Macon, Ms, which he started in 1965, and flew crop dusters over the states of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi. He was employed at Greenline Equipment Company for twelve years and retired after working over ten years at Golden Triangle Regional Medical Center as a security guard. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Calvin Wartes and a granddaughter Hannah Montgomery. He is survived by his wife Billie T. Wartes of Columbus, MS, three daughters Linda Lamison (Richard) and Janice Younger, both of Columbus , Glinda Montgomery (Tommy) of Caledonia and two sons Johnny L. Wartes (Donna) of Flowood, Ms and Matthew P. Wartes of Columbus. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Brian Lamison, Jennifer Lamison Mayhan, Karen Harrell, Michael Wartes, Chris Wartes,Holly Montgomery, Stevie Younger-Betz and Denver Wartes; nine great grandchildren and several half-brothers and a half-sister. The Pallbearers will be Chris Wartes, Michael Wartes, Brian Lamison, Anthony Harrell, Jimmy Ruffin, Buddy Easley, Denver Wartes, and Stevie Younger-Betz. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Lamison and Tommy Montgomery. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Annunciation Catholic Church, 823 College St., Columbus, MS 39701 or to the donor's favorite charity
