Mrs. Carolyn H. Odom, 86, of Jackson, much loved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at St. Dominics Hospital in Jackson, MS. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon Saturday January 2, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service, with Dr. Walt Porter officiating, will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Odom was born on July 28, 1923 in Columbus to Thomas Ira and Ida Dee Dyess Halbert and lived in Columbus until her retirement from Beneke Corporation in 1986 after 38 years of employment as an accountant. She was a graduate of S.D Lee High School and MSCW, majoring in music and accounting. She then moved to Jackson, MS to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Ida Halbert, brothers Harvey, Tommy, Burton, James and sister Virginia Burch Egger, beloved granddaughter Katie Ogden, and son-in-law Robert (Butch) Ogden. She is survived by her son Chuck Odom (Toula) of Brandon MS, and daughters, Charlyn Odom Ogden of Starkville, MS, and Sally Odom Guyton (Larry) of Brandon MS. Mrs. Odom known affectionately by all of her Grands and Great Grands as Mama Caro is also survived by her grandchildren, Caroline Guyton Blanks (Brad), Mary Katherine Guyton Segrest (Chad), Robert Ogden (Crissy), Collier Odom Swecker and great grandchildren Abby and Thomas Blanks, Camp and Nash Segrest. Pallbearers will be Mickey Guyton, Packy Guyton, Shay Burks, Chad Segrest, Robert Ogden and Tommy Blanks. Honorary pallbearer will be Brad Blanks.
