David Wesley Evers, Jr., age 78, of Starkville MS, passed away January 6, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus MS. A funeral mass will be held Monday, January 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with visitation from 9 AM to 11 AM at the church. Father John Bohn will officiate. Mr. Evers was born July 13, 1934 in Belzoni MS to the late David W. Evers and Margerite Chandler Evers. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Mr. Evers was a long time fan and supporter of Mississippi State University, belonging to the Alumni Association and Bulldog Club. He retired as Senior Marketing Specialist for Exxon Corporation. Mr. Evers was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Kaye Tompkins Evers of Starkville MS, sons, David Wesley Evers, III of Richmond VA, Jonathan Evers of Jefferson Parish, LA; Robert Evers of Germantown TN; and Stephen Evers of Memphis TN; daughter, Edie Evers of San Francisco CA; sister, Edith O'Brien of Houston TX; grandchildren, David Wesley Evers, IV; Jennifer Collins; Andy Evers; Nathan Evers; Samantha Evers; Brooke Evers; Harrison Evers; and Grant Evers, and great grandchildren, Mia Collins, Charles Collins and Molly Collins.
