JIMMY CARR James Vardaman Jimmy Carr III, age 59, passed away October 28, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus. Services are Saturday October 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Columbus with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church with Dr. Shawn Parker and Reverend Ken Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Carr was born January 2, 1950, in Columbus to J.V. Coach Carr, Jr. and the late Mary Jo Taylor Carr. He married Rebecca Becky Sanford Carr July 31, 1971. He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Columbus, and served as the Childrens Sunday School secretary for many years. He was a graduate of S.D. Lee High School and earned a B.S. degree in business from Mississippi State University. He was employed as the purchasing agent at Four-County Electric Power Association for over thirty-five years. He was an avid fan of all Mississippi State sports. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his brother Jeffrey Carr. He is survived by his wife, Becky Carr; father J.V. Carr, Jr., both of Columbus; daughter Cathy Carr Howarth (Will) and granddaughter Avery Carter Howarth of Cleveland, MS; sisters Janie Carr Hinojosa and JoAnne Carr of Calhoun City, MS; Brother-in-law Bobby Sanford (Nell) of Columbus, two nieces, Tricia Sanford Buchanan (Jeff) of Danville, VA and Michelle Crockett of Calhoun City, MS; nephew Jimmy Sanford (Angela) of Mechanicsville, VA. Pallbearers will be Chris Allen, Jimmy Allen, Jeff Buchanan, Dave Douglas, Harry Howarth, Dow Phillips, Jimmy Sanford, and Randy Thrash. Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Four-County Electric Association, Deacons of First Baptist Church of Columbus, Jim Goetz, Phil Griffin, Jimmy Howard, Ken McCann, Doug Robertson, Frank Tindall, Tom Younger, Tim Younger, and Tommy Lane Younger.
