ALLAN ROCKY HOLLIDAY James Allan Rocky Holliday age 75 died Saturday October 1, 2011 at his residence in Columbus. Services will be held Tuesday October 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Sam Morris and Rev. Tony Proctor officiating, burial will follow at Palo Alto Cemetery in Clay County. Visitation will be held Monday October 3, 2011 from 6 until 8 at the funeral home. Mr. Holliday was born on December 25, 1935 in Houston, MS to the late Wilma Lorene Baird and Frank Arndt Holliday, he was a member of First United Methodist Church, and a 1954 graduate of Houston High School. After graduation he began working for Big Star Grocery in West Point, MS until May 1958, when he joined the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Outstanding Service Certificate while serving the 67th artillery Nike Ajax Missile Unit in Berkley, California. He received an honorable discharge in 1961 and came home to marry Dorothy Dexter of West Point. They were married on June 18, 1961 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He returned to the grocery business at Penningtons Big Star in Columbus, MS. In 1965 he became manager of Sunflower on Military Road, where he retired in December 1997 after 32 years of service. One of his life long hobbies was to become a cattle farmer after helping his father-in-law Bill Dexter with his cattle for many years. Survivors include: Wife- Dot Holliday of Columbus, MS Daughters: Millie Morson (John), Clarksdale, MS Missy Holliday, Columbus, MS Alana Wablington (Chris), West Point, MS Grandchildren: Leigh Dexter Morson Alexander Morson Amelia Morson Andrew Morson Mackenzie Wablington Emma Riley Wablington Sisters: Janice Fowler (Joe), West Point, MS Jean Noblin, West Point, MS Brother: Andrew Holliday (Keiko), San Antonio, TX Pallbearers will be: Walter Moore, Don Hudson, Pete Dexter, Frankie Fowler, Ray Bowman, and Bill Brigham Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. Brett Brown, Fox Haas, and members of the Lewis Fellowship Class Memorials may be made to: First United Methodist Church P.O.
