CHARLES SWARTZ Charles Elliott Swartz age 83 died Monday, October 25, 2010 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Aberdeen. Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Liberty Cemetery in Pickens County, AL with Rev. James Black officiating. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Mr. Swartz was born on Monday, May 16, 1927 in Moundville, AL to the late Hiram Albert and Gertrude Land Swartz. He was of the Baptist faith, a retired self-employed carpenter, a U.S. Army WWII Veteran and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and the American Legion. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Hughes Swartz, and his daughter Sylvia Gail Swartz. Survivors include one daughter Donna Howard, Hamilton, MS and two sons Joe Elliott Swartz, Springfield, IL and Charles Dewey Swartz (Gail), Petersburg, IL; one sister Juanita Denton, Columbus, MS and three brothers Carl Swartz (Vivian), Bill Swartz (Mildred), and Selvin Swartz (Mary), Columbus, MS. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Greg Swartz, Lloyd Swartz, Harold Denton, Sonny Denton, Curtis Forrester, Justin Swartz, and Andy Swartz.
