Edgar George Braswell, Jr., age 87, of Jackson, MS ,formerly of Columbus, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson, MS Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, June 8, 2008. His service will be in the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Monday, June 9, 2008 , with Rev. Ed Houser officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Columbus, MS The son of the late Edgar George Braswell , Sr. and the late Clara Ferrell Braswell, Mr. Braswell was born Nov. 4, 1920 in French Camp, MS and was a graduate of French Camp Academy. A veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, Mr. Braswell retired from the US Army after 25 years of service. At one time he was selected to serve in the Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He also served many years as a Mess Sgt. on active duty. After he retired, he was employed by Ford Motor as a mechanic and was Plant Manager for two pipe ditributor companies in Lewis, DE and Houston, TX. He was a member of Quest Community Church , Florence, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, June McPherson Braswell, and two sons, Edgar Gerald and Burniece Braswell. He is survived by his four sons Edgar George Braswell, III (Kim) of Key West, FL, William C. Braswell (Linda) of Harrington, DE, Dale I. Braswell of Columbus, MS, and Randy Braswell(Pam) of Ethel, MS and one step-son Coleman Sanders (Jill) of Kosciusko, MS; three daughters Peggy Willis (Winford) of West Point, MS, Linda Brasher (William) of Florence, MS, and Cynthia Rich (Jimmy) of Atlantic Beach, FL and two step-daughters Deborah Reece (John) of Weir, MS and Pam Kennedy (Joe) of Newton, MS Mr. Braswell is also survived by his three brothers, D'odis Braswell (Ruth) of Mobile, AlL Dennis Braswell of Manhattan, IL and Denton Braswell (Sunny) of Meridian, MS, one sister, Sadie Rushing (J.L.) of Greenville, MS, nineteen grandchildren, thirty one great-grandchildren, and five great -great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dale Braswell, Bill Braswell, Ed Braswell, William Brasher. Memorials may be made in Mr. Braswell's name to French Camp Academy, One Fine Place, French Camp, Ms 39745.
