Bobby Gene Smith, age 70, of Caledonia died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at his home in Caledonia. He left this world for a loving, happy family reunion with his Lord and family who had gone before him. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends during visitation from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday, April 14, 2008. Mr. Smith's funeral service will be in the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 15, 2008 , with Rev. Albert Gore and Pastor Kenny Gardner, officiating. Interment will follow at Egger Cemetery in Caledonia, MS. The son of the late James Lucian and the late Grace Moore Smith, Mr. Smith was born in Caledonia April 15, 1937. A life-long resident of Lowndes County, Mr. Smith was a farmer , a carpenter and a cattleman.. He was a member and officer of Farm Bureau Association and Farm Services Association. He was also a member of Caledonia United Methodist Church, and a former Chairman and Trustee for his church. He was also a trustee for Egger Cemetery in Caledonia. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marion E. "Sis" Smith, a brother Dan Smith and a granddaughter Heather Pennington. He is survived by his son Tony Smith(Betsy), his daughters Sharon Fleming (Marc) and Brenda Pennington (Ronnie) a sister, Doris McCrary (Wade) all of Caledonia, MS and a brother James Douglas Smith (Linda) of Oakland, Tn., 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David Stephens, Jason Stephens, Kevin Smith, Mitchell Smith, Brad Box, Gary Jacobs, Brian Smith and Brett Pennington. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Stephens, Mac Egger, Bobby Egger, Glenn Scarborough, Randy Luker, Dean Brock, Frank Brock, Charles Peters, BJ Harrison, Doug Holliman, Dennis Cunningham, Brad Freeman, Jim Wilson, James Westbury, Ronny Burns, Dr. James Woodard and Internal Medicine Associates, the staff and employees of Clay County Co-Op, Farm Services Association, and the Caledonia Shop and Save. Memorials may be made in Mr. Smith's name to the donor's favorite charity.
