Mitchell D. Mickey Wiggins Mitchell Douglas "Mickey" Wiggins, age 73, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009, at his residence in Caledonia. Services will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Westmoreland and Rev. Glen Edmonds officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Cemetery. Visitation was held at Memorial Funeral Home Monday, October 12, 2009, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Mr. Wiggins was born on Friday, November 29, 1935, in Caledonia, MS, to the late Charles Douglas and Gladys Dodson Wiggins. He was a faithful member of Border Springs Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and church treasurer. He was a trustee of Rowan Cemetery and a member of Gideons International, Columbus North Camp. Mickey was a retired farmer, County Road Department employee and served as a Lowndes County Supervisor of District 1. He was a charter member of the Caledonia Volunteer Fire Department and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Survivors include his wife, Emma Jane Duncan Wiggins; one son, Mitchell Douglas Wiggins, Jr. (Stephanie Vail Wiggins); two grandchildren, Sydney Paige Wiggins and Matthew Douglas Wiggins, all of Caledonia; three sisters, Ann Fussell (Bob), Columbus, MS, Inez Adair (Ray), Caledonia, MS, Dot Curtis (Charles), Corinth, MS; two brothers, Tommy Wiggins (Mildred), Caledonia, MS, Joe Wiggins (Lynda), Columbus, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Doug Wiggins, Charlie Curtis, Aubrey Adair, Col. Pat Mordente, Harold Partain, Vance Tucker, Early McKnight, Eddie Wiggins, and Joe Loncar. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Border Springs Baptist Church, Mayor George Gerhart, Caledonia High School Class of 1955, and Caledonia Friends. Mickey loved his family, friends, and church family. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Mickey" by many young people whose lives he influenced by his daily Christian walk.
