Peggy Jean Cox, 72, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at her residence in Columbus. Mrs. Cox has been cremated and burial will take place at a later date. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. The daughter of the late Douglas F. and Doris Kay Gant, Mrs. Cox was born July 14, 1940 in Sherman, TX. She was a graduate of Sherman High School. After moving to Columbus, Mrs. Cox was employed at Heritage Academy and Cash Distributing Co. before becoming employed at Magnolia Bottled Water as the Office Manager/Bookkeeper. She was an avid golfer and member of Green Oaks Golf Club for 40 years. She loved the outdoors and watching her children and later her grandchildren participate in sports .In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Don R. Cox, who died April 7, 2009. Mrs. Cox is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law Kevin and Michelle Cox of Caledonia, MS and Dennis Cox of Columbus, her sisters and brothers-in-law Frankie and Jim Joiner of Plano, TX, Rita and Larry Daigle of Little Elm, TX and Freeda and Dick Allegrati of Cleveland, TN. She is also survived by her grandsons Richard J. Cox (Karen) of Germany, J. Loren Cox of Caledonia, MS and her granddaughter Tiffany Lynn Cox of San Diego, CA. , many nieces and nephews and special friend Linda Blakeney.
