KATIE DOWNS Katie Estelle Browning Downs, age 94, of Columbus, MS, passed away April 2, 2012, at Windsor Place. Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Louin Cemetery in Louin, MS, with Rev. Tim Lawrence officiating. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Downs was born December 23, 1917, in Crossett, AR, to the late Andrew and Amy Bankston Browning. She moved to Columbus, MS, from Louin, MS, in 1959 and was a current resident of Windsor Place. Mrs. Downs was a member of the Louin Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husbands, Champ Parker and W. L. Downs. Survivors include her sons, Henry Parker of Louin, MS, and Charles Parker and his wife Mary of Columbus, MS, daughters, Geneva Vaughn of Raleigh, MS, and Lyndia Ashtiyany and her husband Cia of Columbus, MS, numerous grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Windsor Place for their wonderful care.
