Mrs. Nellie Johnston Fletcher, age 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital/GT. Services will be 3:00 pm Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Visitation will be 1:00 - 3:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Home. Raised by her grandparents, Larkin and Mary Johnston, she married James L. Fletcher August 25, 1942. They were married for 62 years. She retired from American Bosch after 33 years of service and also a retired faithful minister's wife of 50 years to her husband James. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James L. Fletcher and her brothers, William Johnston and Harold Johnston. She was a resident of Trinity Independent Living and Trinity Personal Care where she enjoyed many friends and the wonderful care provided. More than anything, Nell enjoyed and treasured her family and being present whenever and wherever they were. Her devoted love, sweet disposition and total unselfishness were lifelong models to her family. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Cathy Fletcher of Columbus, MS; grandson, Michael Fletcher and wife Ramie of Steens, MS; sisters, Ann Ensor (Malcolm) of McCalla, AL and Mary Miller of Bessermer, AL; brothers, Walter Johnston (Bobbie) of Bessermer, AL and Ray Johnston (Mae) of Prattville, AL; great grandchildren, Hannah, Aidan, Taylor, Fisher and Finley. Pallbearers will be Michael Fletcher, Aidan Fletcher, Bob Walters, Ray Hancock, Rodney Falkner, and E.T. Colvin, Memorials may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association; 1 Billy Graham Parkway; Charlotte, NC 28201-0001.
