Pauline VonKanel Butler, age 91, died March 31, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, Ms. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Services will be held in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Home Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 2:00 PM , with Brother Bill Lemonds and Dr. Charles McInturf officiating. Burial will follow in Brooksville Cemetery. The daughter of the late Paul and Rosena Plattner VonKanel, Mrs. Butler was born October 10, 1917 in Barton, AR. She and her family moved to Brooksville when she was a young girl, and she graduated from Brooksville High School in 1934. She married Oscar Eugene Butler December 22, 1939. Widowed in 1967, Mrs. Butler continued to live on the family farm, Deerbrook for a total of 63 years. A charter member of Deerbrook Baptist Church in 1945, Mrs. Butler was a Sunday School teacher, Training Union Director and song leader. She worked briefly at American Bosch, and retired from Golden Triangle Regional Medical Center after 23 years as a Nurse Assistant. To Pauline life meant that at the end of life, the question will be not how much you have got, but how much you have given; not how much you have won, but how much you have done; not how much you have saved, but how much you have sacrificed;not how much you were honored, but how much you have loved and served. In addition to her parents and husband Oscar E. Butler, she was predeceased by three brothers William, Edmond and Earnest Von Kanel. Mrs. Butler is survived by three sons David Butler(Tina) of Starkville, Miss. ,William H. Butler (Becky) of Brooksville, Miss. and Carey N. Butler (Debbie) of Columbus, Miss., two daughters Frances Butler King (Ray) of Naples, Fla.and Patricia Butler Moran (Doug) of Shreveport, La. sister-Carolyn Guist of Columbus, Miss. brothers-Herman VonKanel (Pearl) of Caledonia, Miss. and Lewis Von Kanel (Laverne) of Pascagoula, Miss. and sister-in-law-Clara VonKanel of Columbus, Miss. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Todd Jackson, Cliff Paxton, Tyler Higginbotham, Brad Butler, Hank Butler, Ben Butler, Eric Ross, Charles Avery and John James Butler.
