Kate Anderson Morgan, age 95, of Mobile, AL, formerly of Columbus, MS, died Sunday, August 28, 2011 at a health care facility in Mobile. Graveside services were Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus with Rev. Ron Thomas officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. The daughter of the late Henry Price and Kate Brown Anderson, Mrs. Morgan was born June 12, 1916 in Helena, AR. Kate married Robert F. Morgan March 31, 1937, and they moved from Memphis, TN to Columbus in 1955. Mrs. Morgan was a member of First United Methodist Church. After her husbands death in June, 1994, Mrs. Morgan moved to Mobile, AL in 1995 to be near her daughter Kate M. Gilliland and son-in-law Jim. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Mobile. Mrs. Morgan is survived by her son Robert F. Morgan, Jr. and daughter-in-law Becky of Madison, Ms , daughter Kate Morgan Gilliland and son-in-law Jim of Mobile, Al , brother Henry Anderson of Columbus, and sisters Elizabeth Gilbert of Ridgeland, Ms and June White of Oxford, Ms., five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 32, Columbus, MS 39703, or to Keep Mississippi Beautiful, P.O. Box 1609, Jackson, MS 39215 for the planting of a Magnolia Tree at site #12 on Hwy 82 in Columbus.
