FRED NEWELL Fred McKinley Newell age 72 died Monday, January 17, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Services will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Steve Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held at one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Mr. Newell was born on Sunday, September 11, 1938 in Lamar County, AL to the late John Wesley and Alma Mae Johnson Newell. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a retired employee of K Mart. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include Three Sisters Floy Beard (Ellis), Fayetteville, NC; Mary Cole, Columbus, MS; Geneva Hudson, Fort Wayne, IN; One Brother John Newell (Billie), Columbus, MS;and Sisters-In-Law Edwina Gilliam (Frank), of Columbus, MS; Leta Newell of Sulligent, AL The Honorary Pallbearers will be: Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church and the Residents of Eastbrook Apartments In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donors favorite charity.
