Mrs. Alice Clement, 70, died Friday, April 25, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home Sunday , April 27, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Monday, April 28, 2008 at Evangel Church at 2:00PM with Rev. Ron Delgado, officiating. Burial will follow in Egger Cemetery, Caledonia, Ms. Mrs. Clement was born October 4, 1937 in Fayette, Al, to the late Duster and Gertrude Treadway Howell. She was a graduate of Caledonia High School and a Charter Member of Evangel Church, where she was active in the Women's Church Group. She retired after 30 years as an Independent insurance agent , pursuing training in the Insurance field through continuing education courses and seminars. She was an organ donor advocate and appeared before the City Council in October 2007, supporting an anti-smoking ban in Columbus. She took great pride in her flower gardens and blooming plants in her yard. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jimmy and Lawrence Howell and sister Lillian Shelton. Mrs. Clement is survived by her husband Bill Clement, daughters Cindy Guin (Robert) and Sandra Ellis (Lydle) and adopted daughter Danielle Porter, all of Columbus; step-daughter Rachel Knight (Gary), Charleston, SC; brothers Frank Howell (Kathy), Columbus, Ms and Charles Howell, El Paso, Tx; sisters Mary Smith (Ronnie), Chesapeake, Va, and Mary Agnes Myers, Brownsville, Tn. She is also survived by seven qrandchildren, Donnie Malone, Caledonia; Haley Bray, Devin Bray and Shane Turner, all of Columbus; Carolyne Knight and Carter Knight, Charleston, SC and adopted granddaughter Megan Porter, Caledonia. Active pallbearers will be George Bell, Daryl Bell, John Ledbetter, Don Kirby, Les Pogue, and John Knight. Honorary pallbearers will be Doctors Chris Croot, Lance Busch, John Stanback, Bruce Frankel, and Devin Eckhoff. Other honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Land, Joe Wilkinson, Jim Denning, and the Doctors and Staff at UAB, Baptist Memorial Hospital, and North Ms Cancer Center who cared for Mrs. Clement during her illness. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, Ms 39213.
