ED RILEY James Edward "Ed" Riley age 88 died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Services will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Whitney officiating, burial with military honors will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home Monday, March 14, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Mr. Riley was born on Tuesday, December 12, 1922 in Kosciusko, MS to the late Richard Bell and Neva Burns Riley. He was a member and lifelong deacon at Grace Baptist Church, and a graduate of Kosciusko High School and Holmes Community College. Mr. Riley served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a retired bus driver for Trailways Bus Lines having reached a milestone of 2 million miles with no accidents. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Jean Thweat Riley, his daughter Cindy Riley Byars, and his brother Ralph A. Riley. Survivors include: Wife: Laverla Edwards Riley Steens MS Daughter: Lisa Marie Riley, Meridian, MS Sons: Jim Riley (Judy), Millport, AL Richard Riley (Mary Elizabeth Ruth), Star, MS Step-Daughters: Arline Romanoff (Alex), Starkville, MS Gena Anthony (Billy), Columbus, MS Theresa Johnson (Jeff), Columbus, MS Step-Son: Jimmy Fox (Jo Anne), Starkville, MS 4 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren 6 Step Grandchildren, 5 Step-Great Grandchildren The Pallbearers will be: Ken Riley, Pete Riley, Tyler Riley, Joey Johnson, Lee Plowman, and Mitch Cargile The Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. Adam Smith, Doug Rickman, and Deacons of Grace Baptist Church, James Hodges In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Grace Baptist Church P.O Box 9095 Columbus, MS 39705
